There is something rather beautiful about a couple who carry two cultures, two continents, and one shared home in London, choosing to say “I do” against the mountains of the Cape Winelands. Vittoria, a Brazilian bride with warmth and colour in her blood, and Nick, a South African groom drawn home by these very mountains, found in Johannesdal the one place that could hold both of their stories at once.

Their vision from the very first conversation was clear: intimate, tasteful, chic — a wedding that felt like them, not a template. A meaningful ceremony, not too long, held with the mountains as witness. A reception that moved joyfully away from the traditional sit-down dinner into something more sensory and shared. And, above all, a party — because as anyone who knows this couple will tell you, a dancefloor that carries on until the small hours was always non-negotiable.

Design Concept: 

We built the day around a palette of soft greens, earthy neutrals, and quiet flashes of silver — a modern, minimalist language that let the landscape do most of the talking. Floral arrangements leaned into lush, leafy greenery with dahlias, cosmos, and delicate white blooms threaded through, giving every table and archway a garden-grown, gathered-that-morning feel rather than anything too polished or formal.

The ceremony itself unfolded outdoors, string quartet playing softly, before guests spilled out beneath a flutter of parasols — a small, joyful detail that became one of the day’s most photographed moments. From there, golden-hour cocktails gave way to a reception built entirely around abundance and choice: a harvest table in place of a formal three-course meal, an oyster and sushi bar, cheese-wheel pasta, and petit fours that nodded openly to Vittoria’s Brazilian heritage — brigadeiros and churros served alongside cannolis and macarons.

The bar told the same story. Caipirinhas and espresso martinis stood shoulder to shoulder with Aperol spritz and Cape wine, a cocktail menu as bi-cultural as the couple themselves. And of course, no evening was complete without the champagne tower — poured, laughing, slightly overflowing, exactly as it should be.

As night fell, festoon lights took over from mountain views, and the dancefloor Vittoria and Nick had dreamed of from day one filled and stayed full, carrying the celebration right through to close.

Inside, the reception ballroom was transformed with soft, billowing fabric draped across the ceiling, catching the candlelight and giving the whole room a sense of movement and warmth. Long banquet tables were dressed simply and beautifully, with clusters of white cosmos, blush dahlias and flickering taper candles running the length of each one — an intentional shift from the boldness of the ceremony into something quieter and more romantic for the evening. It was a day designed to feel both grounded in tradition and completely their own: organic, glowing, and full of life until the very last dance.
